SOME GREAT HISTORIC BRIDGE WEBSITES - 2005

Over the past years, we have been directed to a number of very interesting websites which have listed some King bridges among their inventory. Here are three of note we have been directed to recently.

 1.                  Historic Bridges of the Midwest (Midwest places)

This is the same site noted above for the Tunnel Hill Rail Trail photos taken by James Baughn. Note two additional photos of King bridges; the famous 1874 Springfield Bridge in Faulkner Co. Arkansas and the KATY Trail Camelback  built by the Company in 1910 in Cooper Co. Missouri.

2.                  Historic Bridges of Michigan and Elsewhere

This fine site has been created by Nathan Holth and has wonderful pictures of historic bridges, including some very interesting Kings; the two  decorative bridges in Belle Isle in Detroit and the famous Second Street through truss in Allegan, Michigan. Please check it out.

The Central Ave. Bridge, Belle Isle -1893                 The 2nd Avenue Bridge, Allegan – 1886

3.                  Historic Bridges of Frederick County, Maryland

In addition to the Bennies Hill Road bowstring reported on in our 2004 update, there is another King bowstring in Ballenger Creek Park as shown below.
